Weekend Recap

Since mostly everything exciting around here happens on the weekend I'm gonna start doing a "Weekend Recap" post every Monday morning.

This weekend was busy, just like every weekend around here. On Saturday my mom and I started to wash Natalee's laundry. I brought out the tubs of clothes and decided to wash all of the 0-6 month clothes along with blankets and burp cloths. We got 5 loads done but had to stop due to a hanger shortage. I can't believe how much girl clothes I have! I have done 3 more loads today and have about 2-3 more. Now the problem is where to put everything. I have less space than we did with Haylee because we put one of the dressers in Haylee's room.

After nap Haylee went to Grandma's to spend the night (only her 4th time and she's almost 3!). My mom didn't have Hannah so Haylee and Grandma had a fun night together. Josh and I had dinner at Applebee's and went to see Bounty Hunter. Afterwards we went to Walmart for some groceries and decided we'd never go there after 10pm again because there are too many weirdos working!

Sunday morning my mom, Haylee, Josh and I all went out to breakfast. It seems this has become a new weekend tradition. We use to never go out for breakfast but it's so yummy! After breakfast Josh took Haylee to the park to play while my mom and I went to see Crazy Heart. I'm not too sure about that movie. A relationship between a younger girl and a man old enough to be her Dad isn't very amusing to me.

Sunday afternoon we had a little birthday party for Jackson. He is so happy now that he has his stitches out and he doesn't have to wear his cone anymore.

Josh BBQ'd some burgers and then we enjoyed the beautiful weather outside. Jackson loved playing ball since it's been awhile.

The girls enjoyed their ice cream from the annoying ice cream man.

And then we headed inside so Jackson could open his presents.

We sang "Happy Birthday" and he gobbled down his cupcake in 2 seconds!

Oh, and I wanted to update about the spider situation. It started Thursday night (or I guess early Friday morning) when Haylee woke up screaming hysterical because there was "a big spider crawling on her foot." This was the first time she's had a nightmare and has reacted like this. It was so sad. She was shaking and kept trying to brush imaginary spiders off her legs. It was kinda like when you hear someone has lice and you can't stop scratching your head, I didn't know if there really was a spider or if it was a bad dream. I'm thinking the later because I searched her room and even stripped her down and found nothing. For the next 2 hours she kept sitting up and looking at her legs, the pillow, sheets etc. until she finally fell back to sleep. The next night she talked about it before bed but didn't wake up at all during the night. We did leave her closet light on that night. Then last night she woke up in the middle of the night crying for Daddy but it wasn't the freaked out scream like before. I went in there and she was sitting up looking at her legs and told me she had a spider on her. I told her there wasn't spiders and tucked her back in and left and she was fine. Now tonight, as I type this Josh is in there because after I left she started crying again about spiders. I really hope she NEVER sees a spider in the house or we are in big trouble. My poor little girl.

A First for Haylee Girl

Can you guess where Haylee went this week?

Haylee finally got to go to the dentist! (Looks more like a park huh?) She did very good. First they did some x-rays of her teeth which she was a little nervous about but held still.

Next they did the cleaning and the only thing she had a problem with was lying down. She doesn't like to lie down. The hygienist was great and said that was fine. I tried to convince her if she would lie down she could watch the cartoons on TV that was above her chair but that didn't work.

So she held really still and kept her mouth open "like a crocodile" and then showed the hygienist how beautiful her teeth looked.

Her favorite part was "Mr. Slurpie" the suction wand which the hygienist let her hold to suck out the extra saliva. Haylee thought that was hilarious and kept belly laughing.

Gee, I can't remember ever having that much fun at the dentist! After the cleaning the dentist came in a looked at all her teeth and then they put some sealant on her teeth. When she was done she said, "time to go play on the slide!" She got a goody bag with a new tooth brush, tooth paste, and then she got to pick out some toys from the treasure chest. I was so impressed with this place and how kid oriented it was. The waiting room, the room she got her cleaning in, and both the hygienist and dentist were just awesome. This will surely make going to the dentist fun each time.

That night, we met a couple of our friends from Iowa, Lance & Sam for dinner at San Tan Flats. When they came down last year we went to the same place and now it’s sort of a yearly tradition. This year they brought their little girl Kenzie with them and it was so good to meet her, she's precious.

Haylee kept wanting to see her and I let her hold her. She's never held a baby before and she did pretty good until she wanted Kenzie to look at her so she grabbed her face to turn it.

She has never been around a baby before since she is the youngest on both sides of the family so there is a lot for her to learn. I'm really excited for Natalee to get here so I can see how wonderful of a sister Haylee will be.

It was fun to catch up on life, and I was glad Dustin came too with Hannah (and my Mom), it was fun having everyone together. The girls even got to roast marshmallows-yummy! Hopefully this will continue to be a yearly thing because I love getting together with old friends-I've known Lance 15 years now.

Tucson

This past Saturday, we went on our last "vacation" as a family of 3. As of Sunday, I can no longer travel. We decided just to go down to Tucson for the day and take Haylee to the Reid Park Zoo.

It was such a fun zoo. All of the animals were out and up close, it was a small zoo so I could walk the whole thing twice and feel fine, and they had polar bears. I loved the polar bears!

We got to feed the giraffes which is always fun, and even enjoyed lying on a blanket in the grass while Haylee ran around tiring herself out.

Haylee got to touch a hedgehog which was hilarious because when she touched him (with her entire hand, not just a finger) the hedgehog jumped and Haylee jumped too.

She also got to touch 2 different snakes which will forever change her life. Ok, not really but when it was time to pick something out at the gift shop guess what she picked? And what does she take a bath with and play with all the time? Yep, snakes! The first night she even wanted to sleep with them but changed her mind and had Josh put them in her closet before he left her room. However, after he left she found one on her bed and threw it on the ground. She is such a crack up!

After the zoo, we went to Reid Park where Haylee went down the slide a million times, a couple times with "no hands" and then we fed the ducks.

After dinner, and a little shopping we headed home. It was a fun day but we were all exhausted by the time we got to bed!

Happy Birthday Jackson

Our little boy is 8 today. We've had him since he was just a couple months old.

At first he was a little devil like most puppies but when he grew out of that "stage" he was the best dog ever, and still is. He's very smart, knows exactly what we are saying to him. He is so patient with Haylee even though some days the torture never ends. Although he's not as spoiled as he use to be when he was an only "child" he is never forgotten about.

Yes, I must confess, we even give him a birthday party ever year. I think last year was the only year we didn't have an actual party, but we will have one for him this weekend. He's been though a lot this week with his surgery and recovery and he definitely deserves it. Call me crazy, wouldn't be the first time.

He is doing very well and should get his stitches out this Saturday. I know he'll be happy when he can eat, sleep and go potty without his darn cone in the way. He has really adjusted to it though and never tries to get it off but I know it's not comfortable.

Happy 8th Birthday Jackson! We love you so much.

Ostrich Festival

Two Fridays ago (3/12) we took Haylee out to the Ostrich Festival. Josh and I discovered it when I was pregnant with Haylee and we love to go. The weather was perfect and we all had a wonderful time. I have to laugh everytime I watch the ostrich races because the guys never make it to the finish line, they always fall off their ostrich first. Haylee thought it was hilarious! After the ostrich races, we watched to the pig races, a monkey show, and a dog dock show where dogs leaped in a big pool after a toy. Lots of fun.

After all that excitement it was time for the rides. Haylee got to go on a few with Daddy and then a few all by herself.

She loves rides and was excited to go on all most of them.

We finished the night with a pony ride and feeing the animals in the petting zoo. Oh, and of course, Haylee had her first experience using a port-a-potty. Fun times!
