I'm finally getting around to blogging about our wonderful trip to Maui last September. Better late than never!
We flew over on a Sunday and by the time we got there and checked into our hotel it was late in the day. Mom was furious that we didn't get an ocean view that she was guaranteed when she bought the timeshare. Our view wasn't bad but we missed hearing the waves.
Tuesday we drove the road to Hana which is always a full day of fun! All of the rain from the hurricane the week before made for waterfalls that were more like raging rivers. We stopped along the way for coconut candy, coconut ice cream, banana bread and shaved ice.
Wednesday we snorked at Black Rock where a sweet little turtle came right up to the beach and swam around with us for a long time. It was the highlight of the trip. Natalee did not want to get in the water but could see him from the shore. Haylee and I swam with him for about 30 minutes before getting out. That afternoon Josh golfed at Kaanapali Kai course and loved the beautiful views. It was that afternoon that we were advised we were under a Tsuanami watch. Not exactly what we wanted to hear when staying right on the water but nothing ever came of it.
There is nothing better than pineapple from Hawaii!
Thursday we went to the Drums of the Pacific Luau. This is our favorite luau and we go every time we're in Maui. They serve delicious, authentic Hawaiian food, unlimited drinks and have wonderful entertainment.Friday we hung out at the resort and swam, spent time at the beach and enjoyed lunch. That night we went on a sunset dinner cruise. It was nice but windy. Remind me never to wear a dress on a dinner cruise again.
Saturday my Mom got her tattoo! Her first tattoo (and probably her last) of a turtle on her leg. She said it hurt but not too bad. After that we shopped and had lunch before Josh picked us back up.
On Sunday we had to say goodbye to Maui. And nobody was happy about that.
We will miss the beautiful sunsets and all the fun we had. Can't wait to go again!
